  • What does Igiogbe really signify in the Benin Culture?
    When a business expands it operations to many locations around the world in the form of branches, it eventually and predominantly choses its founding location as its headquarters. If the family is the business and the children both home and abroad are the branches, then the founding location headquarters is Igiogbe. Although there exist some variations in the choice of HQ, this is sometimes also the case with the Igiogbe.

    Essence of the Igiogbe is primarily to establish the family heritage, to provide a centralized coordination of family affairs and general relations among its members, mainting a united front in advancing towards the overall vision of the family.

    The Igiogbe initiative promotes the unification of cultural identity and faith by acknowledging the role of ancestors, such as Enikaros, in preserving our cultural identity. It helps eliminate the stigma that cultural identity brings in the expression of faith, by emphasizing that our cultural identity needn't hinder our faith in God, this we through through panel discussions, academic researches, documentaries and other media publications, incentives to progressive families, general public orientation.
  • What is the role of family heads in family and community development?
    Family heads play a significant roles in family and community development as they serve as leaders and mediators within the family structure. They are responsible for making decisions that benefit the entire family vision, mediate for conflict resolution, as well as provide guidance and support to most family members.
  • Is the Ukhure not a fetish Idol?

However, it is most suited for persons inclined to family leadership and unity, especially first born children wether male or female, individuals who have been out of touch with family woing to work travels and related absence, seeking to understand the necessary precepts for relating with family elders during marriages, funeral ceremonies, conflic resolutions and other related matters requiring family leadership.
  • How can one partner with the Igiogbe as an Information Center?
    There are numerous ways to partner with us, you can support the cause with resources you perceive can advance our work, refer people who you have identified to need these orientation, attend our programs, spread the word, make recommendations to help us work better.     To volunteer, an individual can visit our physical office, write us an email, place a phone call for the purpose of appointments to discuss the detailed requirements of working together.
